About Kerry Stanley MSW, LICSW
Welcome — I’m glad you’re here.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping individuals navigate some of life’s most challenging moments with warmth, clarity, and resilience. My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices — including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) — all tailored to support healing, growth, and meaningful change.
Who I Work With
My work focuses on supporting people who are experiencing:
Cancer and other major health concerns (patients, survivors, and caregivers): Whether you or your loved one are newly diagnosed, in treatment, or adjusting to your new normal, I offer a space to process the emotional toll and reclaim a sense of self.
Caregivers for Dementia and other conditions: Caring for a loved one can be deeply rewarding yet isolating and exhausting. I help caregivers manage stress, find balance, and connect with their own needs and strengths.
Anxiety: From chronic worry to panic and overwhelm, I help clients understand their anxiety and develop tools to respond with greater ease and self-compassion.
Relationship Challenges: Whether you're navigating conflict, disconnection, or life transitions, I work with individuals to build healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
My Therapeutic Approach
My style is collaborative, non-judgmental, and deeply compassionate. I believe that therapy isn’t about “fixing” you — it’s about helping you reconnect with what matters most, even in the face of pain.
ACT helps us clarify values, build psychological flexibility, and take meaningful action — even when life feels uncertain.
CBT provides practical strategies to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and develop more empowering ways of thinking and behaving.
Compassion-Focused Therapy fosters a kinder inner voice, especially helpful for those who struggle with self-criticism, shame, or trauma.
Each session is shaped around your unique story, needs, and goals. Whether you're looking for a space to process, grow, or simply breathe, I’m here to support you.
Let’s Talk
Reaching out for support is an act of courage. If you're curious about working together or have questions about the therapy process, I invite you to get in touch. I offer a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit.
You don’t have to face this alone — and you don’t have to have all the answers to begin.
My Background:
I’m a multi-generational Vermonter with farming roots and world explorations who loves to create art, eat good food, and practice what I preach.
I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work at University of Vermont in 2008 and my Clinical License in 2011.
Before entering private practice, I worked at the UVM Medical Center for 16 years providing care to clients with anxiety, depression and major medical problems, largely including cancers and neurologic conditions.
